Men's Soccer's Caringi and Kadam Earn Weekly Honors
UMBC freshman forward Pete Caringi III was named America East Conference Men's Soccer Rookie-of-the-Week it was announced today. In addition, junior midfielder Nirav Kadam was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week.
Men's Soccer Faces Tough Road Test at Towson on Wednesday Afternoon
The UMBC men's soccer team will seek to build on its 2-0-0 record as the Retrievers take on host Towson at the Towson Center Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 4:00 p.m. The Retrievers will play four of their next five games on the road, all against local opponents.
Four Retrievers Named To Kick-Off's All-Tournament Team
Four UMBC players earned All-Tournament Team honors in this weekend's UMBC/Navy Kick-Off Men's Soccer Tournament. Senior defender Chris Williams, senior midfielder Levi Houapeu, junior forward Andrew Bulls and junior midfielder Nirav Kadam were named to the 12-man team as the Retrievers captured wins over VMI (5-3) and Wofford (2-0).

The UMBC men's soccer team (1-0-0) takes on the first of five 2009 NCAA College Cup opponents on Saturday, Sept. 4 when they entertain the Wofford Terriers (0-1-0) at UMBC Soccer Stadium. The opening kick-off is slated for 4:00 p.m. as UMBC celebrates US Youth Soccer Day.
Offense Explodes for Five Goals in Men's Soccer's 5-3 Opening Day Win Over VMI
BALTIMORE—Despite the return of 11 starters to the UMBC lineup, it was a trio of newcomers that sparked the Retrievers' men's soccer team in a 5-3 victory over visiting VMI in the opening contest for both teams. Junior transfer Nirav Kadam was named America East Player of the Game, scoring a goal and adding two assists. Senior transfer Danny Shannon scored the game's first goal and added an assist, while freshman Pete Caringi III scored a pair of goals in his collegiate debut.

The UMBC men's soccer team opens its 2010 season on Thursday, Sept. 2 when they host the VMI Keydets. The opening kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m. at UMBC Soccer Stadium. There will be free hot dogs for the first 300 UMBC students, a t-shirt exchange (bring any t-shirt and exchange it for a "new-logo" t-shirt) and black and gold "World-Cup"-style face painting.

Men's Soccer Picked to Finish Third in Preseason America East Coaches' Poll
Cambridge, Mass.--The UMBC men's soccer team has been selected to finish third in the 2010 America East preseason poll, voted upon by the league's eight head coaches. Seven-time league champion Boston University was tabbed as the preseason favorite, earning three first-place votes and 44 total points. 2009 champion Stony Brook also received three first-place votes and was a single point behind the Terriers with 43 points. UMBC, which fell to the host Seawolves in the title game, earned one first-place vote and 37 points.
