Men's Soccer Kicks off Season with Campus Appreciation Night
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WWW.GREENBAYPHOENIX.COM) - The Green Bay men's soccer team will kick off its 2010 regular season Wednesday, Sept. 1 hosting DePaul at 7 p.m. The Phoenix wrapped up exhibition play over the weekend with a 2-2 tie at Eastern Illinois. Wednesday is also Campus Appreciation Night at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Everyone with a campus ID will receive free admission to the game along with the ever-popular and loud thunder sticks. In last season's exciting home opener against Northwestern, Green Bay came from behind 2-0 to finish with a 3-3 tie against the No. 9 Wildcats. Head coach Tom Poitras and the Phoenix credited the crowd and their enthusiasm for the end result. "What a crowd. The student section was great and really helped the guys keep battling," Poitras said after the game. "Santaga Stadium is a fun place to play with an atmosphere like tonight." All students and fans are encouraged to come out and support the Phoenix as it kicks off the season and works
