McGreal Earns All-Region Honors
Senior Alan McGreal of the Canisius College men's soccer team capped his career by being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Atlantic Third Team.
McGreal Earns All-MAAC First Team Honors
Senior Alan McGreal of the Canisius College men's soccer team wrapped up his successful career with All-MAAC First Team accolades, announced by the conference on Thursday. McGreal is the first player in the program's history to earn all-conference honors in each of his four seasons.
Men’s Soccer Loses Season Finale
In a battle for the final invitation to the 2009 MAAC Championship, Canisius College lost to host Fairfield on Sunday afternoon, 2-0. The Griffs finish their season with a 5-12-2 mark, including a 4-5-0 record in conference play. Fairfield wraps up the regular season at 9-6-2 and 5-2-2 in the MAAC.
McGreal Sets School Record in 2-1 Defeat
Senior Alan McGreal broke the program's record for most career goals but the Canisius College men's soccer team could not overcome a 2-0 deficit and lost to the host Gaels on Friday afternoon, 2-1. The defeat drops the Griffs, who are in a battle for the final MAAC Championship berth, to 4-4-0 on the season in conference play, while the first-place Gaels improve to 7-1-0 against MAAC foes.
MAAC Championship Berth on the Line for Men's Soccer
The Canisius men's soccer team wraps up the 2009 regular season with road games against MAAC foes Iona and Fairfield. The Griffs currently sit in fifth place in the MAAC standings and are just one point behind fourth and the final MAAC Championship invitation. Canisius will play first-place Iona on Friday at 2 p.m. before finishing the regular season at third-place Fairfield on Sunday at 1 p.m.
