Bulldogs Race Past IPFW, 4-0

Four different players found the back of the net and goalkeeper Fabian Knopfler recorded his 11th career shutout to lead Butler to a 4-0 victory over visiting IPFW in a non-league match at the Butler Bowl on Wednesday (Sept. 1). It was the men's soccer season-opener for both teams.

Bulldogs Open 2010 Season Against IPFW

Butler, coming off one of the best seasons in school history, will begin the 2010 men's soccer campaign with two matches in a four-day stretch. The Bulldogs will open the season at home against IPFW on Wednesday, Sept. 1, and then travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on Xavier on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Butler Defeats Northwestern In Final Exhibition Match

Butler closed out its three-match exhibition slate in a big way with a convincing, 4-1, victory over Northwestern in a match played in Fort Wayne, Ind. The win left the Bulldogs with a 2-0-1 record for the three-match stretch.

Butler Tabbed As Horizon League Favorite

Butler has been picked as the 2010 Horizon League Men's Soccer preseason favorite in a vote of the nine league head coaches. The Bulldogs narrowly edged Green Bay in the preseason poll, released by the league office on Tuesday (Aug. 24).

Butler, Eastern Illinois Battle To A 2-2 Tie

Butler came from behind twice but couldn't tally a go-ahead goal and had to settle for a 2-2 tie against Eastern Illinois in a men's soccer exhibition match at the Butler Bowl on Tuesday (Aug. 24). The result left the Bulldogs at 1-0-1 in their first two exhibition contests.

Bulldogs Defeat Dayton In Exhibition Match

Senior Kyle Pateros gave Butler the lead midway through the first period and the Bulldogs added a goal late in the match to defeat host Dayton, 2-0, in an exhibition men's soccer match at Baujan Field on Friday night. The match was Butler's first test of the 2010 campaign.

Butler Men's Soccer Enjoys Summer Success

From a national team to a national title, it's been an active summer for members of the Butler men's soccer team. When the Bulldogs report for preseason camp on August 13, several players and coaches will come armed with hardware and tales of summer success.

Butler Tabs Men's Soccer Team Captains

Juniors Matt Hedges and JC Aikenhead have been added as Butler men's soccer team captains for the upcoming season. The two join seniors Conner Burt and Ben Sippola in the leadership role for the 2010 Bulldogs.
